  • English spelling: the Goode, the bant and the fugly. 
    New kinds of written forms. 
    Historical Phonology.

Current Projects

  • PhD thesis: Principles of English spelling: from Beowulf 2 bootylicious.


  • The Routledge Handbook of the English Writing system (due 2016).  co-edited with Vivian Cook (Professor Emeritas, Newcastle University).
