Established in 2014 through the generosity of Eric Kinsella and Barbara Kinsella, the scholarships support talented students as they progress through their engineering studies and prepare for their future careers. Each successful recipient receives a scholarship of €6,000 per year for the remainder of their degree programme, for up to four years of study.

The scholarships are open to second-year students enrolled in the Engineering (BAI/MAI) or Engineering with Management (BSc(Ing)/MAI) programmes who have successfully completed their first year of study and achieved at least Second-Class Honours in their examinations.

Since the programme was established, more than 50 students have benefited from the scholarship. The long-term aim is to support at least 20 Kinsella Scholars within the School of Engineering at any one time.

Announcing the opening of this year's application process, Professor Anil Kokaram, Head of the School of Engineering, said:

"The Eric and Barbara Kinsella Scholarships provide meaningful support that allows students to make the most of their time at Trinity. We are deeply grateful to Eric and Barbara for their continued commitment to our students. Since 2015, their generosity has helped nurture future engineering leaders, innovators and problem-solvers who go on to make a positive contribution in Ireland and around the world."

The scholarship has helped students reduce financial pressures, dedicate more time to their studies, take part in extracurricular activities, and pursue internships and professional development opportunities during their time at Trinity. Current and past scholars have gone on to secure placements and graduate roles with organisations including Accenture, AECOM, Arup, Cardinal Health, HubSpot, Intel and Jones Engineering.

Eligible students are encouraged to apply before the closing date of 5pm on Friday, 16 October 2026. Applications should include a personal statement, CV, first-year transcript and confirmation of any scholarships or financial awards currently held.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview during the week of 9-13 November 2026.
