Welcome to the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy Equality, Diversity and Inclusion page. The School of Social Sciences and Philosophy has a dedicated Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team who are committed to ensuring EDI is embedded in all activities across the School.
The School EDI Team is comprised of two Co-Directors of EDI, both based in the Department of Sociology - Professor Camilla Devitt and Dr David Ralph, and Natasha Halpin, the School EDI Manager. The Co-Directors of EDI are responsible for leading the School’s EDI activities and the School EDI Manager's role is to support the Co-Directors and act as the Disability Liaison Officer.
In February 2026, the School was successful in renewing its Athena Swan Bronze Award with a new action plan for the years 2025-2030. The plan comprises of various EDI activities relating to Gender, Disability and Race Equality, with a focus on staff and student supports. The School EDI Team's focus will be to lead the implementation of our new action plan. Access the new plan here.
