Academic Opportunities

The School of Computer Science and Statistics is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Computer Science (Information Systems), who will join the Discipline of Statistics and Information Systems.

The Assistant Professor will be a full faculty member, and as such will be expected to innovate in both research and teaching, to assist in the administration and mission of the School, and to contribute to the wider research community.

The appointee should have the potential to develop into a leader in their field of research, with ambition for a world-class research programme. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in the School, particularly in the area of Information Systems.

The Assistant Professor will be expected to be deeply involved in the running and delivery of our flagship ‘Management Science and Information Systems Studies (MSISS) undergraduate degree course.

The successful candidate will be an excellent researcher and lecturer with a strong international research track record and clear potential for research leadership. They should have a strong commitment to research-led undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a demonstrated capacity or potential to attract research funding and develop a world-class research programme.

The School’s BA in Management Science and Information Systems Studies (MSISS) has a long-standing and successful history; this year we will celebrate 40 years of MSISS. This flagship degree course attracts top class students and has one of the best graduate employment records of undergraduate courses in Ireland. The Assistant Professor in Computer Science (Information Systems) will play a pivotal role in reviewing and developing the programme, thus ensuring its continued success and relevance.

Applications are encouraged from candidates in the field of Information Systems (including but not limited to: Enterprise Systems, Data Analytics, Database Systems, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Systems Analysis, Systems Requirements, Technology and Society, Digital Policy and User Centred/Experience Design (UXD)) with a strong commitment to the role of teaching and developing the curriculum of Information Systems at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The successful applicant will have a primary degree and a Ph.D. in Computer Science/Information Systems or a closely related subject. Professional Opportunities

The Purpose of the Role

The School of Computer Science and Statistics (SCSS) invites applications for a permanent 
Administrative Officer 3 position in its Research Unit.

The Administrative Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Research Unit including sole responsibility for the efficient operation and management of the School’s Research Ethics approval process and Research Ethics Committee. The role holder will also support the School’s Research Committee, the Research Proposal Approval process (all research submissions from the School and its Research Centres, circa 150 per annum, require School approval prior to submission to College and the relevant research funding agency), the maintenance of comprehensive research data and metrics, and preparation of regular research funding reports.

Together with the Research Unit Head, the successful applicant will undertake a varied and wide-ranging workload and will also have opportunity to develop and enhance the Unit’s administrative processes. The Administrative Officer will also be expected to take an active role in the administrative functions in the School and provide assistance, as required, in other areas.

We are seeking to recruit a Systems Architect within the Systems Support Group.  This role will plan, organise and manage state-of-the-art core IT infrastructure systems and technologies within the School of Computer Science and Statistics (SCSS). The post-holder will be responsible for providing high level contributions and leadership, as well as being a valuable resource to teaching and research groups within the School.

As a Systems Architect specializing in virtualization, containerization, and Storage systems, the role will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our core infrastructure. The post-holder’s expertise will be critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our core systems while also staying abreast of emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.

Research Opportunities

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for a fully funded postdoctoral researcher
position to work in 3D computer graphics and 3D computer vision.


The successful candidate will join the 3D Graphics and Vision research group led by
Prof. Binh-Son Hua at the School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College
Dublin, Ireland to work on topics related to generative AI in the 3D domain.


The School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin is a collegiate,
friendly, and research-intensive centre for academic study and research excellence. The
School has been ranked #1 in Ireland, top 25 in Europe, and top 100 Worldwide (QS
Subject Rankings 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021).


The postdoctoral researcher is expected to conduct fundamental research and publish
in top-tier computer vision and computer graphics conferences (CVPR, ECCV, ICCV,
SIGGRAPH) and journals (TPAMI, IJCV). Other responsibilities include supporting
graduate or undergraduate students with technical guidance and engagement in other
research activities such as paper reviews, reading group, workshop organization, etc.


The start date of the position will be as soon as possible. Contract duration is 1 year with
the option of renewing for a second year.


The successful candidate will require the following skills and knowledge:
• PhD in Computer Science or related fields;
• Strong tracked records in 3D computer graphics, 3D computer vision;
• Hands-on experience in training deep models and generative models is required;
• Hands-on experience and relevant skills in computer graphics and computer
vision application development such as OpenGL, OpenCV, CUDA, Blender is
desirable;
• Strong programming skills in C++, Python. Capability in implementing systems
from research papers and open-source software.
• Additional background in math, statistics, or physics is an advantage.
