International

PPES students have the opportunity to spend part or all of their Junior Sophister year studying at distinguished partner universities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia through Erasmus and other approved exchange programmes. This page also has information for incoming exchange and visiting students joining PPES from partner universities around the world.

Outgoing PPES students

Many PPES students spend part or all of their Junior Sophister year studying at a partner university abroad, and it is often cited as one of the highlights of the degree. Exchange offers the chance to experience a different academic culture, develop new perspectives across the PPES disciplines, and build the kind of independence and adaptability that employers value.

Exchange takes place in third year. Students may go abroad for a full academic year or for one semester. Those studying abroad for a full year must obtain a minimum of 45 ECTS credits from the host university. Those going for a semester must obtain at least 20 ECTS credits from the host university and 30 credits from Trinity.

Not every partner institution offers modules across all four PPES disciplines, so the availability of particular exchanges may depend on your chosen pathway. It is your responsibility to ensure that the modules you choose abroad are compatible with your degree pathway. If you have any doubt about this, speak to the course office before you go.

Incoming Exchange and Visiting students

Each year, exchange and visiting students from partner universities around the world join PPES, taking modules across Philosophy, Political Science, Economics and Sociology. Whether you are coming for a single semester or a full academic year, Trinity offers a range of supports to help you settle in, including an airport meet and greet service, orientation events and student services.

Before contacting the exchange coordinators, we recommend reviewing the module information available on each of the four discipline websites.
