International
BESS offers real opportunities to study abroad, whether you are a current BESS student looking to spend part of your third year at a partner university, or an international student considering Trinity as your exchange destination.
Outgoing BESS students
Many BESS students have the opportunity to spend part or all of their Junior Sophister year studying at distinguished partner universities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia through Erasmus and other approved exchange programmes.
Exchange takes place in third year. Students may go abroad for a full academic year or for one semester. Those studying abroad for a full year must obtain a minimum of 45 ECTS credits from the host university. Those going for a semester must obtain at least 20 ECTS credits from the host university and 30 credits from Trinity.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the modules you choose abroad are compatible with your chosen degree pathway. If you have any doubt about this, speak to the course office before you go.
For full details on available destinations, how to apply and the exchange process, visit the School Study Abroad page.
Incoming Exchange and Visiting students
Each year, exchange and visiting students from partner universities around the world join BESS, taking modules across Business, Economics, Political Science and Sociology. Whether you are coming for a single semester or a full academic year, Trinity offers a range of supports to help you settle in, including an airport meet and greet service, orientation events and student services.
Before contacting the exchange coordinators, we recommend reviewing the module information available on each of the four discipline websites.
The HEC Paris Double Degree Programme
BESS students on the Single Honours Business, Joint Honours Business and Economics, or Major Business with Minor Economics pathways may apply for the HEC Paris Double Degree Programme. Successful applicants transfer to HEC Paris at the end of their Junior Sophister year for a further two years of study. On completion, students receive both a Trinity degree and the MSc in Management (Diplôme de Grande École) from HEC Paris. Applications are made during Hilary term of the Junior Sophister year. Contact the course office for current deadlines.
