BESS is the only degree in Ireland that combines Business, Economics, Political Science and Sociology under one programme. Students begin with a broad foundation across all four disciplines before choosing how to specialise. A programme built around choice
Most degrees ask you to choose your path before you fully understand your options. BESS is different. In your first year, you study all four disciplines - Business, Economics, Political Science and Sociology - giving you the time and experience to make an informed decision about where your interests and strengths lie. From second year onwards, you begin to specialise, with the flexibility to adjust your path as your goals become clearer.
By the time you graduate, you will hold a degree in one of ten possible combinations, ranging from a Single Honour in one discipline to a Joint Honour or Major with Minor across two.

The four disciplines at the heart of BESS are taught by internationally recognised academics across Trinity's School of Business and the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy. Each brings its own methods and perspectives, and together, they give BESS graduates an analytical range that single-discipline programmes cannot match.
Where BESS can take you
BESS graduates are highly sought after across finance, consulting, government, technology, media and the public sector. Of the Class of 2022, 79% were in employment within months of graduating, with others going on to postgraduate study at institutions including the London School of Economics, Sciences Po, and Bocconi University.
