The School of Social Sciences and Philosophy is committed to being an active listener. Student feedback shapes how we teach, how we improve, and how we recognise excellence, and we publish the results.

Every term, students across all four departments complete anonymous evaluations for each module they take. That feedback is reviewed at every level of the School - by lecturers, Heads of Department, the Director of Undergraduate Teaching and Learning, and the School Manager. Where teaching assistants are involved in a module, relevant feedback is shared with them through the module lecturer.

Module evaluations

Each term, we recognise excellence in teaching by publishing the top-rated modules across the School, including the highest-rated module with an enrolment of over 100 students.

Results don't get filed away. Where students identify areas for improvement, departments act - adjusting assessments, changing how material is delivered, revising workloads, updating resources. We publish a record of those changes by department, so students can see exactly what their feedback has made happen.
