Cathryn has been teaching on CELLT’s pre-sessional and in-sessional programmes since 2018. Originally from the USA, Cathryn has taught on English language programmes in Europe (Belgium, Scotland and France) and in Asia (South Korea) before moving to Ireland. As Senior EAP Instructor, Cathryn is responsible for programme delivery, assessment and curriculum development, as well as supporting the specialised language needs of individual learners. She has also taught English for Academic Purposes, Professional Skills and IELTS at University College Dublin where she was awarded Associate Fellow of BALEAP’s Teaching EAP Accreditation Scheme (2020). She is an active practitioner-researcher publishing research projects with the Irish Research Scheme for Teaching (IRST) on Lexical Bundles in Writing Fluency (2018) and contributing to an ebook 100 Top Tips: Ideas for English Teachers from the Irish ELT Sector (forthcoming). Recently she has presented internationally at TaLC 2022 the preliminary findings of her doctoral research on corpus applications for teacher training and has published articles on corpus literacy for in-service EFL practitioners and Irish teachers’ motivation and teaching conditions in Ireland.
