Trinity Access Programmes Hosts Pre University Orientation Programme

Posted on: 14 September 2009

Ninety four incoming first year students from Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) link secondary schools will take part in TAP’s annual Pre University Orientation Programme which will take place from September 14th to 25th next.  The orientation programme, run in association with Accenture, aims to introduce students to all aspects of student life at Trinity College.  Many of the students are the first in their families to progress to higher education.

Over the course of the two weeks, students will take part in a range of activities designed to let them experience various physical, academic, social and cultural aspects of the college.  Activities include study skills and essay writing sessions, sporting and social activities and information sessions.  Members of the college community from both academic and administrative areas as well as student societies and fellow undergraduate students assist TAP staff to ensure the incoming students receive an understanding of the broad range of social and academic interests available in TCD.

A reception, hosted by TAP to mark the Pre University Orientation Programme, will take place on September 17th.  In attendance will be incoming TAP students and their respective tutors along with TCD’s Senior Tutor, Dr Myra O’Regan and Accenture‘s Carmel Halpin.  More information on TAP initiatives can be found via the website.
