Innovation Dublin 2009

Posted on: 09 October 2009

Innovation Dublin 2009, a week-long festival of public events aimed at showcasing, promoting, encouraging, inspiring and stimulating innovation and creativity in the city, will take place from October 14th – 20th next.  The goal of the week is to raise public awareness of the innovation and creativity that is happening on a daily basis in Dublin and to encourage networking opportunities.

As part of Innovation Dublin 2009, Trinity College has planned a range of seminars, showcases, discussions, workshops and exhibitions promoting both Dublin and Trinity College as an energetic, diverse and innovative place to learn, live, work and create.  Events within Trinity will range from interactive technology showcases to the analysis of medieval manuscripts; from virtual exhibitions documenting living histories of older Dubliners to a forum on the generation of ideas.

During the week-long festival of events, it is hoped Dubliners will be given the opportunity to celebrate their new ideas and initiatives.  Entrepreneurs, students, researchers, artists, companies and the general public are encouraged to come and discover the smart solutions, creative ideas and clever collaborations taking place within the city around them.  Each event is themed around a key aspect of urban life: culture, enterprise, people, movement, the environment or the public realm, and with over 200 events and activities scheduled all across the city, there should be something for everyone.

Innovation Dublin 2009, coordinated by Dublin City Council, is a key project of the Creative Dublin Alliance, a collaborative group made up of Dublin local authorities, universities, state agencies, businesses and the not-for-profit sector.  It was launched in Trinity’s Science Gallery in June.  For further information on events that are scheduled in Trinity College and other Dublin locations see www.innovationdublin.ie.
