Earthquake in Türkiye & Syria

Posted on: 10 March 2023

Dear College community,

I am writing to you in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria. I know this is a very challenging time for members of our College community, particularly those who are from, or have family members in Türkiye, Syria and surrounding and impacted regions.

Earlier this week we wrote to Trinity students from Türkiye and Syria and while we have made every effort to ensure we have contacted all concerned, we are asking anyone affected who may not list Türkiye or Syria in their student record to contact us directly should they wish.

In March 2022, the Provost established the Global Incident Response Unit which sits within Trinity Global and we will be co-ordinating the College-wide efforts to put supports in place for affected student and colleagues.

In particular, we will assist in the co-ordination of fundraising efforts in College over the coming weeks but should you wish to donate  now, here are some NGOs you might consider supporting:

Please don’t hesitate to contact us on Global.Response@tcd.ie

There are many people and services in Trinity who are here to support you including Trinity Global, the Senior Tutor’s Office, and the Student Counselling Service. You will find a list of useful contact information below.
