Posted on: 20 April 2018

Trinity’s HR Partner team has won the Irish HR Champion Leadership Award 2018 for their Mentoring and Career Development Programme. This initiative, the first of its kind in the University sector in Ireland, offers a unique bespoke programme that has attracted participants from across the organisation.  It provides employees with opportunities to unlock their hidden potential and have the confidence and tools to grow and develop their careers.

Commenting on the significance of the award, Claire O’Reilly, Head of HR Partnering said: “The Mentoring and Career Development Programme has been a resounding success and a much sought after flagship programme which other 3rd level institutes now seek to roll out”.

“True HR leadership facilitates the success of others. The HR Partnering Team runs regular focus groups across the university to listen and learn about the needs of managers and staff and how HR can best meet those needs. The idea was to combine the best of a mentoring programme with the best of a career development programme to create an innovative solution to the problems identified,” Claire added.

Geraldine Ruane, Chief Operating Officer and sponsor of the initiative believes that in Trinity the greatest asset is our staff and she is a great advocate of career development and enhancing staff’s capabilities.

The annual Irish HR Champion Awards recognise the success and innovation of human resources teams around the country, across a variety of criteria, including diversity, leadership and employee engagement.
