Posted on: 17 February 2020

The 31st Annual Trinity Secondhand Booksale takes place this week in the Exam Hall, Front Square, Trinity College Dublin, run by volunteers with student assistance.

Opening on Tuesday 18 February at 12.00pm (admission €3), an auction of rare books will take place later that day at 5.30pm (catalogue can be viewed here). The Sale continues on ‘Restocked Wednesday’, 10.00am-6.00pm (admission free) when additional material will be on sale and on ‘Half Price Thursday’ 10.00am-2.00pm. Clearance auction of all remaining books at 2.15pm on Thursday 20 February when everything must go.

This year’s Sale is very strong on books on Ireland, Irish literature and criticism, Gaeilge as well as art, biography, history, statistics and maths, education, fiction, etc. The Sale will feature many music books from the extensive reference library of the much-loved Sandy Harsch (1942-2018) who presented Country Time on RTÉ Radio for 20 years.

All books are generously donated to the Sale and proceeds go to support the purchase of research materials in the College Libraries. Over the past 30 years the Booksale has raised over €500,000.
