Posted on: 14 January 2016

Trinity College Dublin has been ranked in 40th position in the world in the just published Times Higher Education top 200 list of the most international universities. It is the highest ranked university in Ireland in this field.

The ranking is based on Trinity’s proportion of international students, international staff and its international collaboration in research based on papers published with at least one co-author from another country.

All institutions in the top 800 of the ranking have been considered. This makes the inclusion of Trinity College Dublin in the list of the top 200 most international universities a significant achievement.

Trinity Dean of Research, Professor John Boland says: “We are delighted that Trinity College Dublin continues to be recognised  globally as Ireland’s premier university, competing at the highest international standards.  We deliver  an education based on a foundation of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship which is  attracting high calibre students and faculty  worldwide and making research discoveries which have a global impact.  It is a university that builds on Ireland’s achievements in education and research that will improve our future.”

Phil Baty, Times Higher Education World University Rankings editor says:  “An institution’s global outlook is one of the key markers of a prestigious university. The top institutions hire faculty from all over the world, attract students from a global market of top talent and collaborate with leading departments wherever they happen to be based.”
