Trinity Appoints Chief Operating Officer

Ms Geraldine Ruane has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer. As a senior executive for 25 years with a strong commercial and finance background, Geraldine has provided strategic vision and implemented growth strategies and efficiencies within the pharma, ICT, manufacturing and public sectors.

Having qualified as an Accountant, Geraldine developed her International business and leadership experience through her roles as Financial Controller/Finance Director with Upright Ireland, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceutical and Novartis Pharmaceutical. Her General Management experience resulted from her position as Chief Executive with Chanelle Pharmaceutical Group and most recently with Ordnance Survey Ireland for seven years before joining Trinity.

Geraldine has a strong understanding of and experience in developing customer-focused growth organisations using the power of technology, innovation and ecommerce, adopting cutting edge leadership approaches in developing high performance management teams and establishing strategic business networking channels nationally and internationally.

This has been supported by her pursuit of life-long learning on leadership, coaching and mentoring from Harvard, the International Institute for Management Development, Institute of Directors, Irish Management Institute and UCD Smurfit Business School.

Geraldine has successfully operated as Interim Chief Operating Officer for the past year taking responsibility for the overall leadership, management and organisation of the University’s services function, including central services: Human Resources, Information Systems Services, Estates & Facilities, Commercial Revenue Unit, Diversity & Inclusivity, Project Management Office; student services: College Health, Sport and Recreation, Disability Service, Day Nursery, Student Counselling; and Academic Registry.

Her key focus will be to deliver a successful suite of services to the College, its students, staff and other stakeholders and partners and be aligned to the delivery of the College Strategic Plan 2014-2019. Geraldine will build a robust professional team that is focused on deliverables and, at its core, will value accountability. 

Geraldine reports directly to the Provost and is a member of the Executive Officers Group and in attendance at Board meetings on an ex officio basis.
