TCD’s Housekeeping Department Nominated for National Award for Q Mark Quality Management Systems

Trinity College’s Housekeeping Department were announced as finalists at this years’ prestigious Q Mark for Quality Management Systems at the National Q Mark Awards ceremony held recently in Dublin.   This was the first time Trinity College participated in the event which aims to celebrate the drive, commitment and achievement of all nominated companies that are committed to providing quality services in Ireland.

There are approximately 200 staff employed in TCD’s Housekeeping Department who look after accommodation at both the College’s city centre campus and off site accommodation at Trinity Hall in Dartry.  In keeping with international standards, the Housekeeping Supervisors and Managers have successfully completed the British Institute of Cleaning Science, Cleaning Operatives Proficiency Certificate and are now qualified assessors.  Trinity College has also completed training of all existing housekeeping staff to Cleaning Operatives Proficiency level with any new staff receiving the training as part of their induction.

Commenting on the Q Mark Award nomination, Housekeeping Manager Moira Bailey said: “We have a dedicated team who are committed to high standards and quality of service.  This is the first time we have participated in this award and we are delighted to be announced as finalists in what is a very tough competition.”
