TCD Sets up Alumni Career Network for Students

Posted on: 10 March 2011

A new student focused online facility, the Career Network, which aims to provide Trinity College Dublin students with access to an online community of alumni was launched this week.  The new service will facilitate career planning and research for students by allowing them to connect directly with alumni, benefit from their experience and receive advise in areas of relevance to the student.

Trinity College Dublin has a large, diverse base of alumni who occupy positions across a range of industries both nationally and internationally.  In November 2010 a new website called Front Gate Online was launched allowing alumni of Trinity continue to connect with the College, their classmates and friends, both socially and from a career networking perspective.  Previously available to alumni only, the service which has just been extended to students will allow them find out more about a particular job, company or industry, or seek advise on life after college, living abroad or further education.

Commenting on the new service, Director of TCD’s Careers Advisory Service, Sean Gannon said: “We are delighted to be able to extend this service to our students to help them learn from the many successful and experienced alumni worldwide.”

Also speaking about the service Alumni Director, John Dillon, said: “I’ve been very impressed by the willingness of alumni to give something back to the College.  With hundreds of alumni already joined up, I’m looking forward to the feedback from both the students and the alumni in the coming months.”

Students can register for the Career Network service online at www.tcd.ie/alumni/students.  The Career Network is open to all 3rd and 4th year students as well as all postgraduate students of the College.
