Pop-up Public Exhibition of Trinity’s Art Collections

Posted on: 11 October 2013

On Tuesday 15th October the Trinity College Dublin Art Collections is launching its annual ‘College Gallery’ Art Hire Scheme but with a difference!

This year the scheme will double as a free three-day ‘pop-up’ exhibition, open daily at The Public Theatre from 10.00am to 4.00pm on the 15th, 16th and 17th October. There will also be short lunchtime tours of the exhibition each day.

New to the annual event is a focus display woven into the larger exhibition of some 120 works. Whether donated by the artist or others, or purchased after selection by the student volunteer committee specifically for the hire scheme, the highlighted pictures will trace how students, staff, artists and donors have shaped and contributed to the modern art collection at Trinity College from 1959 to today.

A number of extra works will be shown, on loan from their current hire locations, such as the most recently acquired artworks purchased in 2012 and 2013 using hire scheme fees, including works by Dorothy Cross and Richard Mosse, who is currently representing Ireland at the Venice Biennale of International Contemporary Art.

Dates:              Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17 October (inclusive)

Time:               10.00am – 4.00pm

Venue:            The Public Theatre, Trinity College Dublin

Tours:              Art Bites – 15 minute lunchtime tours of the exhibition daily at 12.30pm; 1pm; 1.30pm

All are welcome to view the exhibition – admission is free to students, staff, and the visiting public.
