Papal Visit: transportation and access to Trinity

There will be major security restrictions to the City Centre during the Papal Visit on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26.

During the visit, everyone is advised to use public transport where possible due to the high volume of traffic and road closures.  You can find the full itinerary of the visit here.

Saturday, August 25

Front Gate-Closed for the duration of the cavalcade.

1 – 5 College Green and 3 – 4 Foster Place –Closed for the duration of the cavalcade.

Vehicular access will be as per normal and pedestrian access as per normal excluding Front Gate during the parade.

Sunday, August 26

General travel information:

The North Quays and South Quays will be closed from 8am possibly until late on Sunday night, the north and south quays will be closed to all traffic as they will be the main pedestrian routes to the Phoenix Park where the mass will be held.

Taxis can access along Dame Street on Sunday therefore the Hotels/ Hostels in Temple Bar will be accessible and patrons can get to and from the airport.
