Moroccan Ambassador Visits Trinity

The Moroccan Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Anas Khales, recently visited Trinity College Dublin to meet with Dr Omar Mamad, a postdoctoral researcher at the Trinity Institute of Neuroscience (TCIN) and the Vice President for Global Relations, Dr Juliette Hussey. 

Dr Mamad won the prestigious 2015 award for best PhD thesis from Universite Mohammad V in Rabat, Morocco and completed his PhD through a joint programme between Universite Mohammed V and Universite de Bordeaux.  His research at Trinity is entitled ‘Inter-Regional synaptic integration of sensorimotor signals within the episodic memory networks.’  The research uses electrophysiological, anatomical and optogenetic techniques to investigate the neuronal signal integration and encoding en route from basal ganglia to hippocampal formation. 

During his visit, the Ambassador was brought on a student led campus tour, a tour of the Trinity Institute of Neuroscience and the Book of Kells and the Old Library. During his time in Trinity the Ambassador and Vice President for Global Relations discussed his keen interest in establishing links between Trinity and universities in Morocco.
