Posted on: 29 July 2019

Team Formula Trinity, a student led initiative, recently competed in the Formula Student Competition at Silverstone Racetrack in the UK where they finished second in Class II. This was a major achievement in this prestigious international competition run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers where university teams from around the world design, build, test and pitch a formula style race car under a fast pace and demanding environment.

It is only the second year Formula Trinity have competed in the event and the team which comprised of students from all years in the School of Engineering and a student from the School of Business would like to thank their sponsors and all those who assisted them in their preparations. The students finished 2nd out of 37 entries. The team plans to build their designed car in time for the 2020 competition where they will compete in the Class I category.

Formula Trinity’s mission is to: successfully represent Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and its sponsors at the Formula Student competition every summer; and to provide a friendly environment for students to engage in real engineering projects in order to sharpen new skills, develop interests and to bridge the gap between students and industry.
