Professor Michael Fine Deputy Director of the Centre for Research onSocial Inclusion, Macquarie University , Sydney , Australia gave a lecture on A Caring Society?  Care and the Dilemmas of Human Service in the 21st Century on Wednesday April, 18th in Trinity College .

Prof. Fine states that care is no longer a private concern. In the 21st century, characterised by population ageing, family fragmentation and the entry of women into the paid workforce, it has become a major public issue. Professor Fine offers a systematic, comparative analysis of emergent practices and policies of care in the context of the political economy of post-industrial societies. The talk will focus on theories of care and the struggle to find new balances and approaches that are affordable and sustainable.

The event was organized by the College’s Social Policy and Research Centre (SPARC), the School of Social Work and Social Policy, as part of the Trinity College Ageing Research International Guest Speaker Seminar.
