Animated Short Movie, ‘The Last Train’, Nominated for IFTA Award

An animated short movie The Last Train, that was made as part of the Animation Hub, a collaboration between staff and students of the Irish School of Animation (ISA) at Ballyfermot College of Further Education (BCFE) and Trinity College’s Graphics, Vision and Visualisation Group (GV2), and the animation studio Giant Creative formed by BCFE graduates, has been nominated for a prestigious Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) award.   IFTA nominations are announced in various categories across film and television and celebrate the highest standard of Irish talent over the past twelve months.  The Last Train was shortlisted with three other nominees in the Animation category.

The Last Train is a one minute animated short film, fusing motion capture techniques with naturalistic 3D character animation.  It was made during the Animation Hub which ran for three months over the summer of 2011 involving Giant Creative working with animation and computer science students. The Animation Hub received support from the Irish Film Board and Science Foundation Ireland. 

The credit list for the film, which is about a man being chased by an unrelenting force, is as follows:

The 9th Annual IFTA Awards will take place at Dublin on Saturday February 11th, 2012.  The award ceremony will be broadcast on RTÉ One.
