Trinity moves 21 October Commencement ceremonies to 19 October

Posted on: 07 October 2026

Students who are unable to attend on 19 October may choose to graduate in absentia on that date or, subject to availability, attend a Commencements ceremony at a later date.

The Trinity College Dublin Commencement (graduation) ceremonies originally scheduled for Wednesday, 21 October 2026 have been rescheduled to Monday, 19 October 2026, for reasons beyond the University’s control.

National public sector union strikes currently scheduled for 21 October have made this change necessary.

Trinity recognises that this may cause inconvenience, particularly for students and their families who have already made travel or other arrangements, and apologises for the disruption.

Students who are unable to attend on 19 October may choose to graduate in absentia on that date or, subject to availability, attend a Commencements ceremony at a later date. Students opting for a later ceremony should be aware that they will not graduate alongside their original class group.

The Academic Registry team is contacting all affected students directly with details of their rescheduled ceremony and the options available to them.
