Gaelcholáistí are Climate Smart!

Posted on: 23 April 2024

An Taisce, along with Prof. Anna Davies and Dr. Stephan Hügel, from Geography in Trinity's School of Natural Sciences, launched a new Transition Year module called ‘Climate Smart’ with student representatives from Scoil Chaitríona and Coláiste Chilliain.

‘We owe a huge thanks to COGG for their tireless help in ensuring the inclusion of gaelcholáistí in this important topic’, said Alison Norman, Climate Adaptation Officer at An Taisce.

Guide your city through floods – choose what you think will work for your home!

Freely accessible to all at climatesmart.ie, learning includes a blend of online videos, quizzes, and hands-on activities.

Best of all, Climate Smart culminates in the iAdapt game, where people will act as Mayor of Cork or Dublin City and must use what they have learned to protect us from catastrophic flooding in 2045. Students can be empowered to engage in climate adaptation and active citizenship if principals register their schools today.

Principal Investigator Prof. Anna Davies said: “We urgently need to ensure our cities can cope with unavoidable climate changes. Climate Smart provides TY students with a range of knowledge and skills to help them engage in planning for a climate-proof future."
