David Quinn was announced as the winner of the 2008 Trinity Business Alumni/Bank of Ireland Student at a reception at the House of Lords, in Bank of Ireland College Green on Wednesday 23rd April.

The competition, open to senior sophister business students, is run by Trinity Business Alumni in association with the Business School in Trinity College which shortlists six finalists. The Bank of Ireland sponsors the event and has been associated with the competition for the last fourteen years.

President of the Trinity Business Alumni, Conor O’Kelly, provided an insightful overview of the six finalists – Chris Wallace, Ruth O’Donoghue, Sam Nolan, David Quinn, Rory Costello and Anike Edun. “The range of activities and projects that the finalists were involved in is amazing, they are very well rounded individuals who are academically bright and are also able to balance a wide range of business, not-for-profit, social, sporting or cultural pursuits”. He emphasised that, “These finalists have demonstrated their leadership and entrepreneurial qualities and have been net contributors to Trinity life and they epitomise what the ‘college experience’ is all about.”

The Provost Dr Hegarty speaking at the reception stressed “the importance of becoming involved in student societies and voluntary and entrepreneurial activities”, and he noted how these activities “contribute to a fulfilling student life and how the alumni remain an integral and an important part of College”.
