Health and Sport Week took place 18th-24th March with the continued Green Week theme of Healthy Planet, Healthy People.

Health and Sport week 2026 Recap
Health and Sport Week has come to an end after a full few days of events celebrating ‘Healthy Planet, Healthy People.’ It kicked off with the vape-free Trinity launch, complete with a piñata-breaking competition to win T-Ball tickets.
Students and staff planted an orchard at St James’s campus and wrapped up with Trinity on the Move. Whether you took advantage of the free sports classes, got your blood pressure checked or attended one of the many insightful talks, we hope you enjoyed the week!

Trinity College Dublin Student led Clinic
To celebrate Health and Sport Week 2026, College Health and the Faculty of Health Science held a drop-in health check clinic in the Dining Hall, Trinity Front Square with free, health chats and checks available to all staff and students. Led by student doctors, nurses, physios, dieticians, and supervised by College Health GP and Chartered Physiotherapist with the Faculty of Health Science and Healthy Trinity staff.
We’re trialling this free clinic, led by students, to understand can free student-led clinics be made available more often. This is a Healthy Trinity partnership between Faculty of Health Science and College Health under the School of Medicine’s Interprofessional Training strategy.
Trinity College Dublin becomes a tobacco and e-cigarettes free campus
The vape-free Trinity launch took place during Health and Sport Week. People will continue to be prohibited from using cigarettes and e-cigarettes indoors on campus and requested not to use cigarettes and e-cigarettes outdoors on campus, except in designated smoking/vaping areas. Read more here.
Burkitt Orchard
Healthy Trinity got active outdoors by planting an orchard at St. James’s Hospital-university grounds, converting a grass patch into an orchard during Health and Sport Week. Students, staff, alumni and friends to came together and helped plant a brand new Orchard at Trinity St. James’s Centre in honour on Trinity Alumni Denis Burkitt who made significant discoveries in the relationship between fibre and bowel cancer. The Healthy Trinity team guided students, staff, alumni and friends through planting young fruit trees that will grow into a shared community resource for years to come. Thank you to all who took part, supporting biodiversity, boosting campus green space, and creating a healthy, living legacy for future students. All volunteers enjoyed a tasty, nourishing meal after the planting session. A thank you for helping us cultivate a healthier, greener campus.
Trinity on the Move supports 245 staff and students to get active
Thanks to everyone who came along to Trinity on the Move 2026 at Trinity Sports Centre on Tuesday 24 March!
A total of 245 students and staff were active during the day across our range of indoor activities including bike challenges, our popular Smoothie Bikes Ireland bike, fitness classes, arcade-style sports and more!
