Provost launches TCD’s first Strategic Plan for Student Services

Posted on: 02 May 2006

Trinity College’s first strategic plan for Student Services was launched by the Provost, Dr John Hegarty on 2 May.

“Student services make a crucial contribution to the student experience at Trinity College. Our mission is to provide opportunities of the highest quality for student development in an inclusive, caring and cost-effective way, consistent with the academic mission of College”, commented Mr Bruce Misstear, Dean of Students.

“There are currently many internal and external factors influencing the provision of services, including the changing demographics and expectations of our student population, and the academic and administrative reorganisation within College. These factors and the expected expansion in fourth-level activity make it a particularly appropriate time to respond to these changes by implementing a strategic plan for student services”, he continued.

The student services plan builds on the College’s strategic plan. Under three main themes of meeting student needs, raising the profile of student services and organisation and resources, the plan sets out the aims, objectives and a set of actions to ensure the successful delivery of student services during the next three years. Funding for priority actions is considered in the context of the distribution of the student registration charge.
