Open Day 2008 at Trinity College

Trinity College ‘s Open Day showcased over 70 presentations on its wide range of undergraduate courses on Wednesday, December 10th last. An estimated 7,000 sixth year students, mature students, guidance counsellors and parents from all over the country were in attendance.

Presentations were given by TCD’s academic staff in relation to courses across the College’s three faculties: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Engineering, Mathematics and Science; and Health Sciences. In addition to interactive demonstrations and presentations, there were information stands attended by academic staff and students, tours of facilities such as the College’s new Sports Centre, Dental Hospital , the School of Nursing and Midwifery, science laboratories as well as tours of the TCD campus.

There were also information sessions on various aspects of the Trinity Access Programme, special presentations for mature students, teachers, guidance counsellors and parents as well as information about support services for students with disabilities.

The day, which is coordinated by the TCD Admissions Office, was a huge success and students came away with an in-depth knowledge of the College’s courses. Commenting on the TCD Open Day, Admissions Liaison Officer, David Byrne said: “I would like to thank all members of staff and students who participated, its success was due to all their hard work and dedication in the run up to the event and on the day.”
