Korean Sanwoollim Theatre Brings Acclaimed ‘Waiting for Godot’ to Samuel Beckett Centre in Cultural Exchange between TCD and South Korea

Trinity College’s School of Drama, Film and Music in association with the  Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Embassy, Dublin, the Ireland Korea Association and Loofen Association   is hosting a visiting production of Samuel Beckett’s acclaimed play ‘Waiting for Godot’ by the  prestigious  Sanwoollim  Theatre from Seoul, South Korea in the Samuel Beckett Theatre this week( October 21-25th).  

To mark this cultural exchange and dialogue between Trinity College Dublin and the Republic of South Korea , the Korean director Young-Woong Lim  viewed the Samuel Beckett manuscripts which are held in the Long Room in Trinity College . He was accompanied by the Head of Drama, Professor Brian Singleton, along with Counsellor Jaichel Cho of the Korean Embassy, Dublin . 

The highly critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning Korean director Young-Woong Lim has been directing ‘Waiting for Godot’ and exploring Irish Nobel Prize winner Samuel Beckett’s vision for the last forty years in Korea, and has toured his work around the world. He was delighted to bring his ‘Godot’to the home of Samuel Beckett at Trinity College Dublin.

The Sanwoolim Theatre’s  ‘Waiting for Godot’ will be on this week in the  Samuel Beckett Centre,  TCD  (Box Office – 8962461/ Tickets €20). There will also be a post-show discussion with director, Young Woong Lim and Cast on October 23rd.
