Accounting and consultancy specialists, Grant Thornton, have established a mentoring partnership with young adults participating on the Trinity Access Programmes Foundation Course for Higher Education. The four year partnership was launched at Grant Thornton offices on October 1, last.

The partnership will involve the Grant Thornton Academy providing a range of career development supports to the young adults, including modules on career development, transferable skills and exam preparation. The Grant Thornton Academy is an in-house learning and development centre based at the firm’s city centre offices.

Welcoming the support of Grant Thornton, the Head of Trinity Access Programmes (TAP), Cliona Hannon commented: “We are very excited about this partnership, as it will really strengthen the selection of professional role models in our students’ lives, as well as providing them with invaluable academic and career skills.”

“Grant Thornton is delighted to help young people from our local community in accessing a potentially life transforming educational experience”, stated Managing Partner of Grant Thornton Paul Raleigh. “The aims of the TAP programme are strongly aligned with the firm’s own values, which fosters a culture of continuous improvement through education. This partnership with Grant Thornton shows the importance that corporate Ireland places on investing in the graduates of the future and on creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce.”

The Trinity Access Programmes are part of Trinity’s contribution to tackling social exclusion, through a range of innovative, targeted initiatives for individuals who, for socio-economic reasons, have not yet realised their full educational potential. Students on the TAP Foundation Course are from designated disadvantaged schools in the Greater Dublin area.
