Each year, EARMA honours individuals who have significantly impacted the Association and the wider research management community. This year’s recipients exemplify dedication, leadership, and the spirit of service that drives EARMA’s shared mission at national, European and international levels.

Doris has been a pillar of the EARMA community for decades. Her leadership, mentorship, and tireless advocacy for research managers have left a lasting legacy within EARMA and in European research more broadly. This award recognises her lifelong commitment to excellence and service.

In addition to her role in Trinity Research, Doris was also involved in the development of the European Universities Alliance initiative and the subsequent creation of CHARM-EU, where she sits on the Executive Board and is Trinity’s project Co-Director.

'I am delighted that Doris Alexander has been recognised with the prestigious EARMA Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstandingly valuable contributions to the research management profession in Europe,’ said Dipti Pandya, Chair of EARMA. ‘Doris has not only demonstrated exceptional commitment, leadership, and impact within the research management community but has also played a pivotal role in our association's initiatives and recognition of the profession. Her contribution to the European research landscape has been unmatched and has benefitted the entire research ecosystem. On a personal level, I am absolutely delighted to see such a well-deserved awardee and am in awe of Doris, her commitment, her expertise and above all her generosity and dedication to research.’

‘I am truly honoured to receive this lifetime achievement award,’ said Doris Alexander. ‘I truly believe in the importance and life changing power of research and that research managers can and do play a key role in supporting researchers to successfully navigate the ever changing and complex research ecosystem. My career is a reflection of the community that have shaped my journey and I am deeply appreciative of my colleagues, past and present, in Trinity College Dublin, nationally and internationally who have supported me, giving so generously of their time and expertise. And it's not over yet, I still have more to learn and hopefully more to contribute!'
