Trinity Global has won a Bronze Athena Swan award

Welcoming the Award, Professor Emma Stokes, Vice President for Global Engagement, said:

“Everyone in Trinity Global is delighted with this award. It is the culmination of a detailed self-assessment process which we approached with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to responding to areas which were identified as needing change. All of us in Trinity Global have benefitted from participating – it was a real opportunity for growth and development and we are excited to get started on the implementation of our action plan. We had fantastic support within Trinity Global and the College community including the Athena Swan Champions Network and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Office. As the first professional unit to achieve this award, we will now be in a position to help others.”

Associate Vice Provost for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Professor Lorraine Leeson stated:

“We are really proud of our colleagues at Trinity Global in securing this Bronze Athena Swan Award, the first professional unit in College, and across Ireland, to do this. This recognises the team’s commitment to ensuring that equality is at the heart of what Trinity Global does and the action plan in hand will drive forward targeted changes in priority areas. We warmly congratulate the Trinity Global Athena Swan Champions and all on the Trinity Global Athena Swan Self-Assessment Team who have worked so diligently and intentionally towards this outcome.”

In 2021, the Athena Swan Ireland Charter underwent a redevelopment in line with the findings of a national consultation. The 2021 Charter offers a framework to address gender equality more broadly and build capacity for evidence-based work across all equality grounds enshrined in Irish legislation.

As part of the Athena Swan Ireland 2021 Charter framework, a new eligibility to apply for an Athena Swan award was extended to professional units.

Trinity now holds 18 school awards, 1 professional unit award and an Institutional Silver Athena Swan award.
