Biography

Dr. Amy Connery is an Assistant Professor in Speech and Language Pathology in the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies. She has over ten years of clinical experience working in paediatric primary care and disability settings. In 2017 she was awarded a scholarship to undertake research at the School of Allied Health at the University of Limerick. In 2021, she completed her PhD, entitled 'Retrieving and synthesising the evidence to guide clinical practice: Development of an evidence-based framework for stuttering interventions for adults who stutter'. As part of this, she completed a systematic review of effective stuttering interventions, a meta-ethnography on the lived experience of stuttering, and semi-structured interviews and e-Delphi methodology with key stakeholders including adults who stutter. Results of her PhD were disseminated through four peer-reviewed publications, and numerous national and international conferences. Her current research interests include effective stuttering interventions for both children and adults, PPI (Public and Patient Involvement), multi-stakeholder co-design of interventions, and evidence-based practice. She has published her work in several international journals, and frequently presents her work at national and international conferences.
