Energy Metabolism
Prof. Richard Porter
Associate Professor
Dr. Porter's research focuses on understanding mammalian energy metabolism. His research achievements are based ideas founded in solid science, a substantial grant base, the quality of the researchers that he recruits, the advanced technology in the laboratory and his collaborations with prominent international laboratories, both academic and industrial.
Our research focuses on the following areas:
- The Role of Mitochondrial Uncoupling Protein 3 (UCP3) in T-cell Immune Function
- Energy Metabolism and Cancer Phenotype
- Efficiency of Energy Metabolism in Thoroughbred Horses polymorphic for Myostatin
- Efficiency of Energy Metabolism in Cattle with Differential Residual Food Intake
