Congratulations to PhD student Mackenzie Batista, who has received the Dermot McAleese Teaching Assistant Award for the Department of Philosophy. Mackenzie was proposed by Dr Adina Preda and Dr Samantha Fazekas for her teaching on Topics in Philosophy I & II A and Central Problems in Philosophy B.
Her doctoral research focuses on political philosophy, with a particular interest in justice, social issues, human rights, and the rights and responsibilities of groups.
The awards, named in honour of the late Professor Dermot McAleese, former Whately Professor of Political Economy, are now in their 15th year. Each recipient receives €500 and a commemorative medal.
