The Centre's Director, Adina Preda is the principal investigator on a 5-year project – Rights and Egalitarianism – REAL, funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant.
REAL starts from the observation that both in practice and in theory rights have been divorced from egalitarian distributive justice and aims to propose a novel framework that accommodates rights within an egalitarian theory of justice and show that rights and equality are not only compatible but also mutually supportive.
The project critically examines theories of rights and egalitarian theories of justice and adopts an analytical approach that blends arguments from political and legal philosophy, normative ethics and axiology in order to provide a novel and solid framework that integrates the two and advances current debates in these areas.
