Trinity celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride! Pride at Trinity is a keystone of the campus calendar - an opportunity to celebrate the LGBTQ+ people in our community and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring an inclusive, safe, and diverse environment where everyone can thrive.
Pride promotes the self-affirmation, dignity, visibility, and equity of the community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and other diverse gender and sexual identities.
Trinity has a strong commitment to queer pride and protest traced back to the formation of the original gay advocacy group the Sexual Liberation Movement which started with a meeting on Trinity campus in 1973.
The Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride Festival runs from 20th to 28th June and with the theme of "Taking Liberties" - we march in solidarity with our entire global LGBTQ+ family and send a clear message to the world: The liberties we have taken will not be taken back.
Pride at Trinity is a collaborative effort between different groups on campus including:
- Q Soc - Trinity's LGBTQ+ student society (and the oldest in the country!)
- Trinity's LGBT+ Staff Network
- Campus student services who promote and participate in pride celebrations, including the EDI Office, Trinity Global, and the Office of the Provost
The 2025 Pride at Trinity calendar includes:
- Flag Raising - The LGBTQ+ pride flag is flown over Trinity's Front Gate during Pride festivities
- A Trinity contingent at the Dublin Pride parade organised by Q Soc
- The Annual Provost's Pride Celebration in the Provost's Garden by the LGBT+ Staff Network
- The Pride in Research symposium organised by the LGBT+ Staff Network by and for queer research and researchers
- A display of LGBTQ+ literature organised by the Trinity Library
We'll be updating this post with more Pride related activities as they're announced!
The EDI Office is delighted to support our LGBTQIA+ students, friends, and colleagues at Trinity - looking forward to next year already!
