Dr. Theo Ryan
Assistant Professor Teacher Practioner, Pharmacy

Biography

Theo is a registered practising pharmacist who divides his time between the School and community pharmacy. Theo gained his B.A. in Natural Science (Chemistry) and Ph.D. (Organic Chemistry) in the School of Chemistry, Trinity College Dublin. Following postdoctoral research in the University of Bern, Theo worked in industrial positions with Schering-Plough and Henkel (Loctite). Having completed an MPharm with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, he worked as a community pharmacist and also with LEO Pharma. Theo took up the part-time position of Asst. Prof. (Practice Educator) in Trinity in 2015 and then Asst. Prof. (Teacher Practitioner) in 2017 and continues to practise as a community pharmacist. Theo's previous research has been in organic synthetic chemistry and carbohydrate-recognition supramolecular chemistry. His current research is in the area of Pharmacy Practice (community pharmacy, medication safety and student preparation for pharmacy practice).
