Workplace Wellbeing (Online)


Wellbeing is a core value of most societies, albeit conceptualised, defined, and promoted in diverse ways. Deriving primarily from a psychological perspective, this course introduces participants to a sociotechnical systems model of workplace wellbeing, contextualising the organisation’s role between individual’s own wellbeing management, the services, infrastructure and policies in society and the physical infrastructure and technological environment.

Course Aims

The course aims to provide students with:

  • An understanding of what the workplace wellbeing is and how it can be measured.
  • The ability to conceptualise the organisation as a sociotechnical system with wellbeing as a key outcome.
  • An understanding of the psychosocial, organisational, contextual, and societal factors influencing wellbeing.
  • An appreciation of leadership and change management strategies needed to design and deliver effective wellbeing initiatives.
  • The ability to apply their knowledge to evaluating wellbeing initiatives.

Who is The Course For?

Workplace wellbeing managers or those with specific wellbeing responsibilities in their organisation, e.g. healthy eating; workplace wellbeing consultants, health and safety officers, HR personnel or staff wellbeing programme managers. The course is also suitable for participants who may wish to pursue a future role in the area of wellbeing. Note: this course is not industry specific and the learning can be applied to any industry area.

Who Teaches the Course?

Assistant Professor Sam Cromie, Assistant Professor Adele Grazi and Assistant Professor Siobhán Corrigan along with relevant industry professionals where applicable.

Course Delivery & Timetable

This is a seven-week course divided into seven sessions. Each session is designed to be completed over the course of a week and will comprise several offline learning elements complemented with a one-hour live webinar (evening). The webinar and study material will be accessed via our student virtual learning environment, Blackboard.

The one hour live webinars will take place from 7pm to 8pm (Irish time) on Thursdays on the following dates starting in January 2023.

Additional Participant Information

For the best online experience, we recommend the use of Chrome as your default browser, along with a USB (or other) headset with built in microphone.  Each live webinar will last one hour. Outside of this you can also expect to spend additional time completing pre session material, such as watching introduction videos or preparing some questions for discussion.

Duration & Certificate of Completion

The next course dates are shown above in the 'Course Delivery & Timetable' section. On successful completion participants will be provided with a Certificate of Completion. Note class attendance will be recorded.


I took part in the CPD in Workplace Wellbeing course and enjoyed every moment of the course. I found the course content to be relevant and interesting. It was of great benefit in giving me a broad knowledge and appreciation of workplace wellbeing. The course was well structured and just the right length.  There was a good balance between the lectures and then the in-person case studies where we got the opportunity to discuss the weekly topics.
