Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module, students should be able to critically assess the judicialization of international relations and the development of international jurisdictions, especially regarding the new roles of these courts in international relations.
Module Learning Aims
- Knowing the institutional architecture of the international judicial system and its historical evolution.
- Comparing different international jurisdictions, their goals, method and achievements.
- Understanding the politics of international adjudication in the XXIst century, including major theories on decision-making of international courts, implementation challenges and backlash.
Module Content
The module is divided in three parts:
- Historical evolution of international adjudication and rise of international jurisdiction
- Architecture of the international judicial system, main courts and their institutional system
- Politics of international courts

- Final exam: 50 %
- Mid-term: 30 %
- Group project (presentation of a specific international ruling): 20%
