Postgraduate
The Department of the History of Art and Architecture supports a thriving community of post-graduate scholars researching a range of subjects, primarily in aspects of Western art. There are three types of post-graduate degree: the taught masters (MPhil) comprises taught courses and a research dissertation, while the MLitt and PhD are based entirely on research.
MPhil: Art + Ireland
Our taught M.Phil. in Art History, ART + IRELAND, (1 year full-time or 2 years part-time) allows students to engage with works of art and architecture from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Interdisciplinary M.Phil. in Medieval Studies
The Department of History of Art and Architecture also contributes to the M.Phil. in Medieval Studies, in particular to the Culture and Civilization strand.
Research Degrees
Students undertaking M.Litt and PhD study work closely with supervisors and may also register for taught modules, both within and outside the Department as part of Trinity’s structured M.Litt/ PhD programme
