Enda was recognised for his outstanding contribution to undergraduate teaching on the module Topics in Philosophy II A, where he was nominated by Dr Farbod Akhlaghi. The award celebrates his commitment to engaging students, encouraging critical thinking, and supporting the wider learning experience.
Enda’s research, supervised by Professor John Divers, explores questions in metaphysics, particularly how concepts like necessity and possibility are used in philosophical interpretations of the natural sciences. His work challenges traditional views by offering a non-metaphysical approach to modality, framing it as a feature of how we think about the world rather than something built into the world itself.
The Dermot McAleese Teaching Assistant Awards are presented annually by the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy to recognise excellence in undergraduate teaching across the School’s four disciplines. Enda was one of four recipients in 2025.
We would also like to congratulate Mackenzie Batista, who was nominated for her work on Topics in Philosophy II B and Central Problems in Philosophy B. Mackenzie was nominated by Professor Adina Preda and Dr Samantha Fazekas in recognition of her strong contribution to undergraduate teaching this year.
