Niamh Kenny is a second-year PhD student in the O’Farrelly Laboratory. Her research focuses on the role of natural killer (NK) cells in endometriosis-associated infertility. Through collaborations with the National Maternity Hospital and Merrion Fertility Clinic, Niamh analyses menstrual blood, endometrial biopsies and cervical mucus to investigate immune-system dysregulation that may contribute to endometriosis and infertility.
An important part of her research is exploring whether menstrual blood could provide a non-invasive source of biomarkers to improve disease detection and patient care.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Medicine from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in Women’s Health from University College London.
