Faye Murphy is a Health Research Board-funded PhD candidate in Immunology at Trinity College Dublin. Her research investigates how type I interferon signalling, immunometabolism, and monocyte function contribute to inflammation, thrombosis, and infection susceptibility in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease that predominantly affects women.
Faye completed a BA (Mod.) in Molecular Medicine at Trinity College Dublin and previously worked as a Research Assistant at the Conway Institute, UCD, where she studied mechanisms of chronic inflammatory lung disease. Her research experience spans translational immunology, patient-based studies, cellular metabolism, and immune profiling.
Through her work on sex-biased autoimmune disease, immune-mediated inflammation, and thrombo-inflammatory complications, Faye brings expertise that aligns closely with the Trinity Centre for Reproductive Sciences and Women’s Health. Her research contributes to understanding how dysregulated immune responses influence long-term health outcomes in women.
