Biography
I’m a medical doctor by background with a PhD in Medical education. I work as an Assistant Professor in Medical Education in the School of Medicine, TCD. My PhD was on the topic on building and sustaining a diverse and inclusive clinical academic skills pool, and I’m interested in gender equity in academic medicine and in the practice of medicine. My research in this area includes a resume study exploring unconscious bias in selection to a clinical academic training programme for junior doctors, a systematic review of interventions to enhance gender equity in academic medicine, and an investigation of sex and gender representation in cardiothoracic surgery textbooks.
I’m a member of the Faculty of Health Sciences and School of Medicine EDI committees, and was team lead on the Education Self-Assessment Team as part of the School of Medicine’s successful application for a Silver Athena SWAN award, 2026.
