Dr Mary Condren is a retired General Practitioner, having practices in Ballyfermot and Temple Bar, Dublin for 35 years. Throughout her career, she developed a particular interest in women's health issues and was appointed as the first Director of Women's Health in the Irish College of General Practitioners. In the early 2000's, she also developed and delivered an MSc in Women's Health in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

She is currently in the fifth year of a part-time PhD in the School of Social Work and Social Policy, Trinity College Dublin, under the supervision of Dr Catherine Conlon, TCRW Research Theme Lead. Dr Condren's PhD research is a qualitative study, exploring the experiences of same-sex, female identifying couples in Ireland, who have use assisted human reproduction, with particular focus on their interactions with the medical professionals that they met along their reproductive journey.

This study draws on her longstanding interests in women’s health, LGBTQ+ health issues and the doctor-patient relationship. Dr Condren hopes to contribute to a deeper understanding of how these interactions shape the experiences of such couples, as they create their de-novo family.
