Find Funding Opportunities

You can find details on funding opportunities in a number of ways: sign up to Research Focus newsletter and Research Professional Funding Database.

Research Focus Newsletter

Research Focus is a newsletter compiled by the Research Development Office team to alert Trinity staff to the latest research funding opportunities, funder announcements and upcoming events.
In 2022 we introduced a new design and navigation format. Researchers can choose to navigate through direct links on the newsletter or go to the Magazine hosted on the Research Professional portal. The standard issue is now fortnightly, featuring a round-up of research funding opportunities and announcements. This alternates with ‘Research Focus Extra’ issues, spotlighting an upcoming scheme or event of special interest to TCD researchers.
This is an exclusive service to Trinity staff as well as Trinity Centres. To subscribe to the Research Focus newsletter, you are invited to complete a short form. Please remember to use your TCD, Research Centre, or affiliated hospital email address:

If you wish to unsubscribe, please click on the link 'unsubscribe from this list' at the end of the Research Focus email or contact the Research Development Office research.office@tcd.ie.

Research Professional

ResearchProfessional.com is an online database of research funding opportunities and a source of international research policy and practice news, with an email alert service. It provides a summary of significant recent research funding opportunities and approaching deadlines. TCD has an institutional subscription and all our staff and students have access to the service through the Trinity College Dublin site licence.

The service allows users to:

  • search thousands of open calls from Irish, UK, EU and global funders;
  • save time building customised searches;
  • receive weekly email alerts, tailored to your interests;
  • access the latest issue of Research Fortnight;
  • share any relevant content with colleagues.

All our staff and students have access to the service through the Trinity College Dublin site licence.
Individuals can register and create a Research Professional account, using their TCD email address from any computer with a Trinity IP address. Users can then access the service, bookmark content, set up personal saved searches and activate the email alerts function.

Accessing the Service

You need to create a Research Professional account to access features. To register a new account:

Go to ResearchProfessional.com

Select ‘Trinity College Dublin’ from the drop-down menu in the log in page and insert your institutional log in details. After this, the system will provide three options:

  1. Continue as a 'guest' (access to the page but can't save searches or create alerts);
  2. Link to an existing Research Professional Account;
  3. Create a new account.

Guidance on setting up email alerts can be found in the Help resources below. You can also request support directly from Research Professional through this link.

You will be able to ask the presenter questions using a text chat feature. Live online broadcast training, for networked subscription sessions, take place on the fourth Tuesday of each month between 10:00am and 11:00am (Irish time).
