Biography
Dr Mary Guy is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Health Policy and Management, and is currently working on the RESTORE project with Professor Steve Thomas. Prior to joining TCD in December 2025, Mary held Senior Lecturer and Lecturer roles in UK law schools, encompassing wide teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including PhD supervision, and administrative roles including Academic Masters Programme Manager and Director of International Student Exchange. Her external roles include being Co-coordinator of the interdisciplinary EU Health Governance (EUHEALTHGOV) Research Network funded by the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES), and the UK national contact point of the European Association for Health Law. Mary's research to date has focused on health law and policy at national and international levels, particularly public/private interaction in healthcare. Her written research has been published by the Health and Social Care Committee in the UK parliament, and published and cited by the Health and Social Care Committee in the Senedd. Following on from her first monograph, Competition Policy in Healthcare - Frontiers in Insurance-Based and Taxation-Funded Systems (Intersentia 2019), Mary has presented findings to the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZa), an Expert Panel of the Dutch Council of State, and the Belgian Competition Authority. Her second monograph, Solidarity in European Healthcare is under contract with Edward Elgar.
